HQ: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReNN5lJu4Rk&fmt=18Hi guys n gals,I always say this, but it’s been a while since my last live musical offering so I am pleased to say that me and Mr Copy got together today and successfully knocked out some beats in a couple of hours!Copy is on the M-to-tha-P-to-tha-C, and I’m on my good ol’ Virus. The MPC is sequencing itself, and the laptop running Ableton is sending out clock signal to both boxes and sending just sequences to the Virus. All parts are running live on hardware, just the way we like it. ;) This time it’s a swingy, Italian-influenced techno offering. Things are going well on the music front too – I have two EPs coming out on different labels just now and a third in the pipeline which is great…I’ll send you all a wee message when they’re released in case you feel like parting with a pound of your hard earned. Hehe…Please also check my Myspace for tunes that I’ve been working on if you are interested – www.myspace.com/mrsimonstokes. Mr Copy is releaseing tunes all over the place just now, but most notably on Soma Records. Check out his myspace – www.myspace.com/mrcopy.Thanks for watching! :-)

Thanks for checking this out! Today I have finally managed to get another live video recorded for YouTube! It’s been a looooong time since my last live jam, partly because my digital camera died (I say died, I mean I dropped it in a load of molten candle wax..) and partly because there’s been a lot going on..Anyhoooo…I have a new digital camera (HD!), some new video editing software and plenty of new ideas! This jam started off as some chunky techno but as a couple of hour rolled by it gradually got a bit deeper until I ended up with whatever this is. It’s still got some chunk to it but it’s quite floaty and melodic – kinda reminds me of Gui Boratto in a way, except not nearly as good..For this I used Ableton as the main sequencer rather than the 909 – I was always an advocate of hardware for everything but I have really started to enjoy using Ableton for this kinda thing since I got my wee Novation Nocturn (controlling filters and FX in this vid). I will definitely be cracking out the 909 again at some point though…Sounds wise, all of the basslines, the mid range beeps, the main sine-wave melody and the white noise are coming live from the Virus which is being triggered by Ableton. That’s over there on the right getting tweaked like mad. The drums are all done within Ableton, and the mad FX noise at the very start and the rolling lead sound are coming from the Predator VSTi…a veritable beast of a synth, but can be a bit trancey (as with every VSTi I’ve tried…).Hope you like it, drop me a comment if you were affected in any way…as always thanks for all your support and for watching my lil’ vids. Fire over any questions you have and I’d be happy to answer them as well.. :) Check out my releases on Beatport if you fancy buying anything: www.beatport.com/artist/simon%20stokes/. Also Myspace: www.myspace.com/mrsimonstokes and look me up on Facebook (Simon Stokes).Cheers! ;)

Hi guys ‘n gals! How are we all?! Thanks for checking out this video – I just thought I would upload it since it was pretty much the pinnacle of my life so far. I got the chance to play at the Sub Club in Glasgow – voted 10th best club in the World…it’s hard to describe the sound system in this place, but suffice to say it is one of the best in the world with huge bass transducers under the dancefloor that shake people’s bones with the sub bass…Track is Shonky – Time Zero (Paul Ritch Remix).Enjoy! More vids to come in the future, there will be some vinyl releases coming up in the next few months as well for all of you who are still on the good ol’ waxes. I’ll hopefully get a chance to upload a proper live music vid as well, sorry it’s been so long…busy times! :) On a seperate note, I will be playing in Bern in Switzerland on 20th May (a Swiss holiday) in the club Dachstock – so if anyone lives in Bern then get in touch and I’ll hopefully see you down there! Also, a vid has been uploaded to YouTube of Uto Karem playing my track ‘Caged’ in a club in Naples…check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2s3sOWtdHg&feature=channel_page!Cheers,Simon

http://www.beatport.com/artist/simon%20stokesHi guys and gals! Thanks for watching this video – it’s just to let y’all know that today (25th February) my new Water Rocket EP is released on Sleaze Records! If you have a couple of pounds to spare and you would like to support it then please jump over to Beatport (or various other download sites) and pick up the tracks! This release consists of two original tracks, called Caged and Water Rocket, plus three remixes courtesy of MiniCoolBoyz (who had a release on Richie Hawtin’s label M_nus recently…), Jean Ramesse (Soma, Sleaze) and Click Click (Berlin).Caged is a rolling, synthy, melodic journey of a track with two epic buildups halfway through that have seen dancefloors going nicely wild! Water Rocket is a progressive, melodic track with some nice breakdowns and buildups – nothing too crazy here, just warm, bubbly techno. The remix from the MiniCoolBoyz takes Water Rocket’s chilled out nature, and combines it with their jacked up beats to great effect. Jean Ramesse provides my personal favourite remix – it’s a beautifully constructed, ever-progressive, highly sexed remix of Caged. And Click Click (from Berlin) rounds off the remixes with a super-minimal, cold, definitely-from-Berlin remix! So far the response from DJs has been good, with it being supported by some of my heroes! Joseph Capriati, Paul Ritch, Xpansul, Anderson Noise, Uto Karem and various others have all got in touch to say they will be playing it… :) So thanks again for all of the support that you guys have given me over the last 18 months or so – it means a lot to me, and I know I keep banging on about it but if it wasn’t for this awesome Youtube community that we have going on, none of this would be happening. Seriously.Cheers, please comment if you feel like it! Also, feel free to add me on Beatport – Simon Stokes (from Glasgow). I also have a musician page so you can become a fan if you like! :) Simon

Hi guys,Thanks a lot for checking this out. Sorry it’s been a while since I posted a video, I’m going to try and sort that out soon. This is just a quickie to say that my new EP is out on Barcelona’s Minibus label! Since it’s release a couple of days ago it has made it to number 27 in the Beatport Minimal charts – if you feel like spending £1.73 of your hard earned then please buy it and let’s see if we can get it to number 1! ;) http://www.beatport.com/artist/simon%20stokes/There are also a couple of remixes – one from Lado, an upcoming techno artist from Georgia (Europe, not USA) and another from Abnormal Boyz, a collective from Italy.I am also offering an internet based budget track mastering services for your tracks – if you have any that are finished but don’t have that loud, professional sounding finish to them then send me a PM and maybe I can help you out! The cost is £10 per track, which is much cheaper than most services! :) Anyways, thanks for watching, buying, supporting and for all the amazing comments and messages!Simon

Hi guys and gals,Thanks for watching! Once again, it’s been a long time since I’ve uploaded a track, but today I got together with Quail and we had a bit of a jam. This track was made in about 1.5 hours with Quail on the Machine Drum SPS1 (mmmmmm) and me on the Access Virus and Ableton to sync everything up.We’re pretty happy with what came out considering how quickly it all came together and that this was our first take at recording! As always, it would be good to know your thoughts!Aside from that, I’ve got a live set coming up on the 6th December in Glasgow, and I’ll be warming up for Mike Huckaby (SYNTH Detroit) and Slam (Soma) so it’s a pretty big night for me, looking forward to it. I’ve also got an EP coming out on Saturday 15th November on Monu Digital – check Beatport for that if you’re interested. There is another EP forthcoming on Barcelona’s awesome Minibus label, I’ll let you know details of that later.Anyways, essay over. Thanks again for watching! :) Simonwww.myspace.com/mrsimonstokes

**REMEMBER TO CLICK “Watch in High Quality”, then click the following link for stereo: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=LKD-_CgSWos&fmt=18!**Hi guys,Thanks for watching…this time it’s a short mix on the decks. The idea behind this mix is that it would feature 5 tracks of different styles that I would mix at some point in a 2 hour set. The difference being there is only 10 minutes of music, so they are mixed straight together making it quite difficult to transition between them.I know it can sound quite abrupt, but I like it. ;) All of the tracks are looped and effected at some point, the track listing is as follows:1. Alexi Delano – Run 12. Dusty Kid – Luna (Tadeo Remix)3. Lauhaus – Casamance4. Paco Osuna – Crazy5. Matthew Dear – Pinch and PillageHope you liked listening to it. Love it? Hate it? Comment. ;)

**Apologies for the crappy sound quality – YouTube doesn’t like sub bass!**Thanks for checking this out! I had time today to record a new live techno jam – this on is basically a test of my shiny new Virus TI2 desktop. This beast is providing all the synthy noises, bassline etc, while the good ol’ 909 provides the percussion. All comments are welcomed, hope you have a sub woofer… ;) Cheers,Simon
